Environmental Monitoring: Portable and flexible sampling to achieve precise source tracing of pollut

Wang Gong, a researcher from the Environmental Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, once encountered difficulties in the project of comprehensive monitoring of atmospheric pollution: "We needed to conduct real-time source tracing of pollutants such as O₃, NO₂, and VOCs in the outdoor atmosphere. Traditional monitoring equipment was bulky and heavy, weighing over 10 kg, and could not be carried by drones or handheld mobile detectors. Moreover, sampling was limited and it was unable to reach narrow pipes, high altitudes, and other areas. At the same time, the data transmission of the equipment was lagging, making it impossible to achieve real-time warnings and difficult to meet the requirements of comprehensive monitoring." 

The portable fiber optic spectrometer from Saifan Optoelectronics has specifically solved many problems in outdoor monitoring. This device adopts a palm-sized micro design, weighing only 0.8 kg, and supports handheld or drone carrying. It is portable and flexible, capable of achieving in-situ sampling in various scenarios such as outdoors, high altitudes, and narrow spaces, without the need for complex pre-treatment. It can start detecting immediately upon power-on. The spectrum covers 200-2500 nm, and can accurately detect various pollutants in the atmosphere, water quality, and soil, with a concentration detection lower limit as low as ppb level. It is equipped with a wireless data transmission function, which can upload the detection data to the cloud platform in real time, enabling precise source tracing and real-time warnings of pollutants, and perfectly adapting to scenarios such as atmospheric pollution comprehensive monitoring and water quality emergency detection.
